Off-grid solar electricity is an immediate solution though it’s growth is stagnated by the high initial cost and the poor aftersales support. Remot technology makes energy accessible to low-income earners and rural communities by providing Pay-Go and remote monitoring services to solar contractors.

Remot is used by solar contractors enabling them to remotely monitor and automatically switch ON/OFF a solar system in addition to remote bill collection supported by mobile money integration on our platform. Remot has become an essential component of the solar energy ecosystem as a Pay-Go enabler for solar companies. Remot consists of a device that is connected to a solar system, this device enables remote control and is embedded with sensors that measure voltage and current values from the solar panels, batteries and consumer load sending them wirelessly over a mobile connection to a server based web system. The web system uses custom algorithms to analyse this data to perform key functions for the company and the consumer and provide key information.

With Remot companies do not need much investment in last mile reach infrastructure. The remot automation of solar system switching and bill collection using mobile GSM and GPRS technologies has enabled companies cut costs from 40% to under 10% of their monthly budgets on top of reducing any chances of fraud as there is no physical exchange of cash.

With the energy data collected from the Solar systems, by use of custom alogarithms, Remot offers additional services such as , after sales support, proof of warranty, fault alerts reducing system downtime, all these contributing to increased customer satisfaction.

Remot currently runs a B2B model, solar contractors purchase the hardware device from us and install it on their consumers’ solar system. We generate revenue from hardware sales and bill collection fees. With the vast amounts of solar production, performance and usage data we collect, we intend to move to big data as introduce a subscription based model to consumers, businesses and investors in the future.
